In 1958, a group of nine artists formed the Society of Animal Artists after receiving an enthusiastic public response to an exhibition titled Animal in the Bronx Zoo. Now, the Briscoe Western Art Museum is pleased to host the 59th Annual Exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists that will feature over 100 paintings and sculptures of animals around the world. See it on Saturday, December 7th!
The Society of Animal Artists (SAA) is devoted to promoting excellence in the artistic portrayal of the creatures sharing our planet, and to the education of the public through art exhibitions, informative seminars, lectures, and teaching demonstrations. The SAA’s membership, past and present, represent a veritable who’s who of artists from around the world. Select works are available for purchase.
Proceeds from the sale support of Briscoe’s mission to inspire and educate the public with engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and public events reflective of the region’s rich traditions and shared heritage. Through the preservation of the art, history, and culture of the American West, the Briscoe Western Art Museum inspires and educates the public with engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and public events reflective of the region’s rich traditions and shared heritage.
Art and the Animal will be on display through January 5, 2020. General admission prices will vary and can be found on the official Briscoe Western Art Museum website. For more information regarding this exhibit, please call (210) 507-4865.
